My client for this job is Steve, my tattoo artist, and he happened to mention he was having difficulty with his current website design, particularly with uploading new artwork. I offered my services as a web designer and we arranged a first meeting.

Website Design for Tattoo Studios

During the first meeting I showed the client some of my previous work and was given complete creative freedom over the project, with only a few requirements: The website had to have a black and white colour scheme; It had to work well with the client’s industry and their need to display artwork; The process for uploading content had to be quick and easy to use; It had to be easy for customers to make direct contact with the shop and its artists.

Challenges

As the client is a tattoo artist, he doesn’t have time to spend with tedious photo uploading processes. After all, his time is money. We tested out a few default solutions, but none of these were suitable for the client’s needs. In order to solve the problem we found a unique solution that allowed the client to upload photos with less than 5 clicks of a mouse. The client was very impressed with this during the demonstration, and praised our ingenuity.

A Website for Artists and Customers

We discussed some initial concepts and I was left to design a sleek new website for the client. My knowledge of the client’s industry led me to design an easy to use yet enticing website, which was accessible not just for customers, but also for the artists.

End result

The final look of the website has a dark and attractive design that offers style and simplicity. The website is full of movement and is easy to navigate. Customers simply have to scroll down the homepage to access reviews, location, and contact details.

The Result

Due to the nature of the client’s business, communication with customers is crucial. We integrated the client’s Facebook feed into the home page, allowing for a seamless link between their business sites. We also included a booking pop-up button that directly links to the business’ Facebook Messenger, meaning clients can make contact quickly and easily.

The client’s artwork is given centre stage, featuring on its own dedicated page. We included before and after shots of cover-up tattoos, allowing their potential customers to see their level of skill. We also separated the different artist’s work so that customers could easily choose the right one. The client’s new website has been a great success for their business, and they have received compliments off many clients and other artists who praise its sleek and practical design.
