Website Design for Trading Manchester
Phil was bursting with brilliant ideas when he visited our office a few weeks back. Looking to solve a major problem, he wanted an online business directory for the city of Manchester, which will be of immense benefits to businesses in the city and customers alike. Phil was so passionate about the directory so much that we knew all we had to do to design the best, functional directory was to match his passion. That was exactly what we did.

Laying Out the Plans
The conversion began to take shape when we showed him other business directories we had designed. We discussed the core features that would be best for the website considering the sectors he aimed to target, the aesthetic designs of the website, Google ranking and others. Impressed with the flow of the conversation, he decided to order some graphic services as well, giving us the task of designing an eye-catching logo that suits the city and of course, the directory.

The Home Page
The homepage was designed to enhance User Experience and User Interface. With the contrasting colours of gold and black and a video of the streets of Manchester on the background, visitors to the website are assured of a feel of home.

The Listings
The homepage includes an “Add Listing” link to enable business owners to have a seamless experience. On the homepage are listings under different categories such as; Beauty Spas, Home services; Restaurants; Shopping. Some businesses are also listed under the Exclusive Listing and Latest Listings categories. Overall, user’s experience is enhanced by the ease of finding the businesses they seek. Presently, there are more than 50 business listings with 30 registering in the first month. With contact forms, details for enquiries, Google map featuring locations of businesses, Social Media links, FAQs etc., the directory provides comprehensive details of businesses that appeal to business owners and service seekers.

The approach we employed was to use 2 main CTAs designed to capture the attention of business owners’ looking to add their listings and that of web visitors seeking services.

To maintain user interaction, we also added a link to blog posts. The posts give various tips and news on the benefits of local business directories.

Mobile & Desktop Versions
With the increasing use of mobile devices for business transactions, a website designed for mobile was deemed important. Hence, aside from the desktop version, we created a website that will adapt to all mobile devices.
Challenges
The major challenge we had was with the client. The client struggled to get high-quality contents to ensure a high google ranking. With our step-by-step guidance, the client provided quality and highly optimised content that helped the website’s ranking. The website currently occupies the third position on the first page of google for searches focused on “Manchester Business Directory.
THE RESULT
The website, Immediately after launching, ranked on the first page of google.
In addition, more than 30 businesses registered to be listed on its platform.
